Use Your God-Given Authority over the Devil.

The devil is real. And his warfare is real.

And lately, it sure feels as if the devil has been out to get me and my little family. It feels as though he has been working to use people closest to me and take out anything else that may be in his way.

BE HE WILL NOT WIN. Not today; not ever.

I will use my God-given authority to stop it every time.

A while back, from the moment I opened my eyes, there was tension in my house and fussing between my husband, me and our seven-year-old. Nothing serious; just your run-of-the-mill bickering. But there was tension that I could feel that was causing all three of us to be snippy with one another.

That nearly caused me to sit out of church that morning because I was mentally tired and aggravated. But I recognized what was happening and said, “no” to the devil. I decided right then that he would not win the day, or even the morning. I was going to go to church no matter what.

That day, the church house was full. And the service was great. I could feel mine [and my daughter’s] attitude shift as we left.

WIN!

Fast forward to a little later that same day.. my niece and I were taking my dad home, in our truck – that had just been paid off the week before – and it overheated on the interstate. Just outside of our county line. We hadn’t been on the road more than 20 minutes of the hour-long drive.

“Are you kidding me?!” I thought.

But again, I realized what was happening, and rather than giving in to the “poor me attitude”, I decided to just take it for what it was and find a solution.

I called my husband to come get us, and we ended up having to call a tow company to take the truck to our dealership. We were both stressed about having to pay the tow bill and potentially a repair bill. [We have a warranty but weren’t sure if the work would be covered since we didn’t know what had happened.]

But God..

I had pulled out some cash to refill the gas tank after I took my dad home, so I had not used it yet.. Isn’t it funny how God works things out? The amount of cash I had taken out was almost the exact cost of the tow bill!

Even though we were in the midst of a frustrating situation, I took the time to praise God for providing the money to handle it. He already knew and already had me covered. The devil did not win.

I can’t really remember how the rest of that evening went.

But what I do remember is how hard the devil was fighting me that day and how it felt like he was going to use whatever he could to get to me. And the overall feeling of the day was like, “what’s next?”

And a lot of times I do fail and give in to the negative attitude, but that day, and many days since then, I made the decision that the devil won’t win.

God has already won the battle!

And we have the authority to tell the devil to back off. And honey, on that day, I was using mine! Over and over.

If you’re not sure what I’m talking about exactly, in the post, “Three Things You Need to Know about Taking Authority Over Satan,” from “Karen’s Blog: This is the Life”, she does a great job explaining authority and how we can use it.

Today, you should try using yours. If the devil is on your back or attacking you in some way – whether it’s your mental health, finances, family members, your job, whatever! – don’t let him win!

Tell Satan to stand down, IN JESUS’ NAME!

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” ✞ James 4:7
